SUBSTITUTE TEACHER INFORMATION
If you are interested in being a substitute teacher for the Dallas County R-I School District the state requires individuals to have a current Missouri Teaching Certificate or a Substitute Certificate issued from the Missouri Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). Please click the link below to access DESE’s website for state requirements and on how to apply for a Substitute Certificate.


In order to become a substitute teacher, you must complete the follow steps.

Step 1:  Complete an application with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.   Link provided below.  (Completing this process with transcripts and other paperwork may take up to 4 to 6 weeks)

Step 2:  Complete a Fingerprint and Background Check as required by the State of Missouri.  (This typically takes 2 weeks)

When visiting the link below you should use the Registration Code Number 0569 for Dallas County R-I Schools.

Step 3:  After you receive your substitute teaching certificate from the state, complete the substitute teacher application (click here to download application) Bring your completed application along with your driver's license and social security card to Debbie Franklin in our central office to complete the payroll information.   You will need to be approved by the School Board of Education, who meet monthly, then Debbie will get your name placed on our substitute teaching list.

Step 4:  Within 90 days of employment all Substitute Teaching staff must complete a one hour long training session that are held throughout the school year.  Substitutes who do not complete this training within 90 days will be removed from the sub list.  Training dates for 2014 are found below:
    October 28, 2014:  6:30 p.m. in BHS Shewmaker Auditorium
